We
are pleased to bring the website of the College of Arts
and Sciences to current and prospective students, alumni,
and friends. With it we hope to communicate the vision and
perspective of the College, its ten academic departments,
and its more than thirty degree programs. We invite you
to visit us, either in person or via the web pages, and
to explore the opportunities for quality education that
are available in the College of Arts and Sciences.
The
heart of the College is
the energy and activity
of a community of scholars
consisting of 2000 undergraduate
and graduate majors, 135
full-time faculty, 20 staff
members, 80 part-time faculty,
and a host of successful
alumni serving in responsible
positions in Coastal Georgia,
and across the state, the
nation and the world.

In
our community are world-class teachers...
Over the past decade faculty members from the College
of Arts and Sciences have received teaching awards from
disciplinary organizations, the University System of
Georgia, and the Council for the Advancement and Support
of Education. |
|
|
In our
community are excellent scholars...
|
|
|
In
our community are distinguished alumni...
Senior
executives in
technology firms
from Austin to
Boston, from
Silicon Valley
to Research Triangle
Park
award-winning
high school teachers
from Savannah
to Atlanta and
all points in
between
distinguished
university professors
in academic postings
such as Rice
and Baylor and
Medical College
of Georgia
and hundreds
of alumni in
leadership positions
in corporations,
law firms, government
offices, and
medical practices. |
However,
of all the subpopulations
of our community, we are
most proud of the accomplishments
of our students. Not only
do they distinguish themselves
in classrooms, laboratories,
and performances on our
campus, but on a regular
basis depart from campus
to win awards and praise
as they present their undergraduate
research in regional and
national venues.
If
you are presently part of this community, we celebrate your
past contributions and look forward to joining you in our
future work together. If you are not yet part of the community,
we invite you to learn more and then join us in our important
work.
